Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam is managed by the Chettinad Group under the auspices of the Gandhinagar Education Society. A request by the members of the society to help educate the children from the Gandhinagar and Raja Annamalaipuram led Padmabhushan Dr. Rajah Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar to establish schools for children of all age groups. From 1956 until now, several schools have been established by the Chettinad family and many of them are functioning as charitable institutions.

Hari Shree was founded in 2004 with a vision to create a safe, emotionally secure, joyful environment, while being rooted to our culture. The philosophy of the school is inspired by Swami Dayananda Saraswati.

We aim to enable children to become compassionate and responsible global citizens, to think globally and act locally, contributing towards a sustainable future. Our focus is to shift from ‘I’ to ‘we’, ‘me’ to ‘us’ and ‘my’ to ‘our’.

The school is affiliated to the Council for Indian Schools Certificate Examinations (ICSE / ISC board)

Our Vision

We seek to build compassionate and responsible global citizens who contribute to a peaceful and sustainable future.

Our Mission

To provide a culturally rich, joyful learning environment that empowers students to be lifelong learners who are reflective, collaborative, creative contributors.

Motto

VASUDHAIVAKUTUMBAKAM

The Sanskrit phrase ‘VASUDHAIVAKUTUMBAKAM’ means the entire world – the animals, plants, resources and mankind – is ONE family and every being is interconnected and interdependent. Our aim is to enable children to gain awareness about themselves, their place in the world, and sensitise them to use earth’s resources mindfully; to create and live in a world that is sustainable and peaceful. Our children will understand that their actions create ripples of change as they think globally and act locally to create a positive impact in the society.

With the awareness that we are interconnected, we seek to build compassionate, responsible global citizens who contribute to a peaceful and sustainable future.

We aim to shift the focus from “I” the individual, to “we” the peers, to “us” the community and ultimately to “ours” the world we share.
