The illustrious family of Chettinad, spanning four generations, is known for their contributions in Education, Tamil literature, Health Care, Manufacturing Industry and community services. The efforts were spearheaded by Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad and taken ahead by Dr. Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar, Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy and now, headed by Dr. Muthiah Ramaswamy.

The Chettinad Group, with a legacy of more than 90 years in education, has been a pioneer in providing a progressive learning environment across Tamil Nadu. The group runs more than 25 institutions including private and government aided schools, a school for adolescents and young adults with special needs, and colleges for Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Polytechnic, Law, Architecture, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences and Pharmaceutical Science.
